Wednesday and Thursday, September 5-6 Bear Drop Harbour
Another anchorage that is quite popular is Bear Drop Harbour. Once we got here we realized why. Really pretty anchorage. The weather is getting a lot cooler and the wind is blowing a lot more often and more forceful. Again, Aurora had trouble with dragging anchor and so did we, the first time that we tried to set the anchor. The picture below shows us backing down on our anchor. We were moving as the anchor dragged. There was ton of yellow cloudy water being pushed by the props toward the front of the boat. We’ve never seen that before. John decide to pull the anchor back up and move to another spot.
We finally felt comfortable with the anchor holding solid.
That night Steve and Diane had us over dinner. We played games and had fun!
The next day we put the dinks in the water and explored.
The little tug style boat is the one that helped us out with our 40 foot log. We made sure to go over and thank him again.
We had happy hour on our boat. We were having fun and Pam pulled out a couple of fun wigs that we bought years ago for a costume on a cruise ship.
These guys slipped right into character. Actually, Steve was checking Diane out and wanted her to wear her wig back to the boat. I wonder what he had in mind?
Of course, John had to bring out the Whooey Stick

This is an anchorage that Pam wants to come back to and try her luck at fishing next year.
We are checking the weather reports and they are talking about bad weather coming. They expect sustained winds up to 40 miles an hour for something like 3 or 4 days. Given the fact that we have already dragged the anchor once, we don’t really trust the holding here. We have never had real problems with anchors holding in roughly 7500 miles of travel and anchoring over 150 times in the last 3 years. But these bottoms with saw dust and bark just don’t hold like terrafirma. With 40 mile and hour sustained winds coming, we opt to head to a marina to hide out.
