We have an offer on the house… Everything has to go…

John talked me into trying to sell our house by ourselves, so we used the site For Sale by Owner.  We decided that we would give it 6 weeks and by the 6th week we had an offer on the house and now we really had to be serious about getting rid of all of our things that we couldn’t take with us on the boat.

Besides working on packing up the house and getting ready to sell everything, we started going out to eat with lots of friends. For some, it may be our last farewell. For others, we know that they will join us on the boat some time.

November 27-30
Had an estate sale. Sold a lot of things over the last two days. What didn’t sell, we donated to a church. They came on Sunday afternoon and took everything that was left. They were very appreciative and we were glad that they could benefit from things that we had collected over the years. After final review of all of the pictures we took of our donated items for the year it amounted to about 2000 items!

On Sunday night and Monday we cleaned the house to get ready for the walk-through on Monday night. The new owners seemed really happy with the way the house looked.

Our friend Jack Theden came by and helped load both of the vans with everything going to the boat.  We had placed all this stuff  in a storage unit so it wouldn’t be sold.  Both vans, and even the dinghy are loaded to the gills.

We closed on the house. About a week before the estate sale Kathryn and Don Terasaki let us move into an condo they own in Rockton. We so appreciated them helping us out.  It was wonderful to be able to have a place to go to get away from the house that was staged for the estate sale.  Unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to enjoy it, but it was great to having this comfortable and lovely place to sleep.
