Waterford, NY
Wednesday June 14-Thursday June15
We left Shady Harbor after taking on fuel and cruised about 25 miles going through one lock called the Federal lock.
We arrived at Waterford Visitors Center and had to go to the very front of the long dock to slip for the next 2 nights.
We were lucky enough that there was room enough for Greek’s Folly and Short Vacation.
We had to put SeaQuest in a space just in front of the pumpout dock. We were able to plug-in to our 2- 30 amp cables splitter into our Electric pedestal but Tom only got to use 1-30 amp because the other side of his pedestal wasn’t working. Lots and lots of looper boats here.
This is the point where you have to decide whether you were going to take the Erie Canal route or go up and do the Lake Champlain route.
That evening we got together on Gypsies Palace for hors d’oeuvres and Docktails. Other looper boats that were there were SeaQuest, The Perch, One Eye Dog, Stargazer (a 44 DeFever), Free to B, Last Call, Ellis Island, etc. That evening we cooked out meat and had a picnic on the park bench with Greeks folly and SeaQuest right outside of the visitor center. The next day we rode our bikes to Lock number 2 on the Erie canal and watched some of our looper friends go through the lock.
Then we took our bikes and rode all around town. Went to a outlet sports store and bought black T-shirts for one dollar so that we can cover our fenders as we go through the locks. We got groceries and then came back to the boat. Went out for dinner at the Angry Pelican with SeaQuest and Greek’s Folly as our last meal before we split with SeaQuest. We have truly enjoyed being with Bev and Bruce.
We have enjoyed their wine, their company and the innocence that they have of being new boaters. We wish them luck as they depart and do the Erie Canal. Hopefully we will see them again next year.
