The Creech’s in Southport
Friday, April 14 through Sunday, April 16
We left North Myrtle Beach at around 7:50 AM and arrived at Southport Marina at 1:25 PM, 45 miles away. We stayed at Southport Marina so we could see Kay and Robert Creech. They didn’t get to take their boat down to Florida this winter because Kay was having some surgery and we missed seeing them in Fort Myers. The weather was a little iffy so we decided to stay two days. We love sitting on Kay and Robert’s front porch and watching boats go by. As we are sitting there we saw Kent and Jan on Follow That Dream cruise by to their marina just north of Southport. Friday night after joining the Creech’s and their friends and family on the porch, John and I went out for dinner at one of Robert’s favorite restaurants called Provisions.
There was a festival in town that weekend so all the restaurants were packed. They told us it would be an hour and a half wait for a table so John and I found a seat at a bar they have there and were able to be seated within about 20 minutes. The next morning we rode our bikes to a arts and craft festival that they had at one of their parks. Kay loaned me her car so I could run to the grocery store. In the afternoon, we stopped at Kay and Robert’s and met some of their family. Around 5:30 we hosted docktails on our back deck with 4 other Looper boats, Sanctuary, Miss Bailey, Porte Bonheur, and Mz Fullcharge. Robert and Kay and their out of town guests came by too.
This is Robert Creech.
The next morning we got up and road our bikes to 8 o’clock church service at the local Methodist Church. We came back and left the marina at around 10:30 AM. We said our goodbyes to new friends on Sanctuary, a 41′ DeFever. We cruise 26 miles and anchored in Wrightsville Beach. This time we came in the southern entrance to Wrightsville Beach and found that this was a much easier way to come in. The weather was overcast and there wasn’t as many boats flying back-and-forth as there was the last 2 times we anchored here so we weren’t being rocked and rolled as much as before.
