Sassafras Harbor Marina in Georgetown MD
Tuesday, June, 23-Friday June 26
One day in Rock Hall was enough so we rode for 41 miles to Georgetown. We have really enjoyed having Mark and Becky on our boat.
Good friends cruising together.
We got to Georgetown around 4:00. Joe the dockmaster used to be a farmer and he bought this marina for his retirement. Not much of a retirement! This guy is really a hard worker and really busy.
That night we had a good dinner on board Short Vacation and a rousing game of Catch Phrase.
Mark and Becky had their van and they rented another car to bring all of their stuff back so we had two vans run errands with . The next day the girls went shopping at Middletown’s Walmart and Wilmington’s Costco and the boys took Tom’s dinghy motors over to a local shop to be worked on. Since it Memorial Day week-end coming up they didn’t have time to work on our dinghy motor. The owners of Mark and Becky’s new boat brought it over in the early evening. They were so excited.
The new Mara Beel. A 27 foot Ranger Tug
Since he was there, they put up the back enclosure and launched the boat at Duffy’s marina.
The next two days Mark and Becky went to their storage unit and sorted through all of the things that they wanted to stay on the boat and things that they wanted to take back to Iowa. Wednesday night we went out for dinner at The Granary Restaurant with Foster and Susan from Quo Vadimus. Becky and Mark did their Gulf crossing with them and became good friends. Foster is the Harbor Host for this area.
We stayed an extra day to wait on Tom’s motor and it worked out well because it gave Mark and Becky time to move out of our boat and onto their new one.
Friday night we said good-bye to our friends and know that we will miss them when we cruise on and they drive home tomorrow.
