Naval Academy in Annapolis
Monday, August 1
Had an interesting breakfast at Chick and Ruth’s Delly.
The four of us went to the Naval Academy again, this time taking our passports with us so that we could get in. The reason that Emily’s family moved to an Annapolis is because Mike got a teaching job at the Naval Academy. Mike gave us a wonderful tour of the Academy.
Plebes (freshman) have to come to the Academy for 6 weeks in the summer and train. Everyday they march in, assemble for lunch and stand at attention while the band plays the Navy’s song- Anchors Away and the Marine’s song- Halls of Montezuma. Then they march into their dining hall one squadron at a time.

John Paul Jones’s crypt and bust
In the morning (very early),we were awakened as the Academy mustered the students and put them through morning physical training. We heard a lot of it over their loud speakers and saw them running everywhere. Our boat is moored right next to the academy.
Greek’s Folly and Short Vacation on moorings in the Mooring field in Annapolis. There are probably 30 or more balls in this area.
That afternoon John and I drove our dinghy down Ego Alley to the downtown dinghy dock and went to Pussers for a drink called a Pain Killer. We had tried these when we were in Annapolis around six years ago at a Trawler fest. We wanted to take Tom and Colletta with us, but we thought he needed his rest. He was fast asleep on the back of his boat.
A big storm blew in while we were in Pussers. Tom had to take his dinghy and rescue one of our fenders that blew overboard.
Beautiful sunset after the rain. We had a great view of Annapolis
