Miss Wanda

Left Anchorage at around 8 AM. Snaked our way back through the crab pots back to the ICW. Had a beam sea all the way through the Alligator River to the Alligator River Marina. Short cruise today, only about 20 miles. Went through the Alligator River bridge took a left and came into our marina! This Marina is out in the middle of nowhere with only a Shell gas station in front of it connected to it.
Miss Wanda was there to help us with our lines. We took on fuel at $1.87 a gallon. Cheapest prices that I could find. Miss Wanda is a character! Her son Logan reminds me of Sam Shepard with that deep voice and that Marboro Man look! These two couldn’t have been nicer. That evening we ate at the gas station and had Annette’s famous fried chicken.
This is us pulling up to get fuel.
Small marina but friendly folk.
This lighthouse was a gift from Miss Wanda’s husband to her almost 30 years ago. This marina was suppose to be their retirement, but he passed away and left her to tend to it with the help of her son. The light doesn’t work anymore but lots of cars stop at the gas station and come over and take pictures of their families in front of the lighthouse.
We had a couple of packages delivered to this marina and Miss Wanda made sure that she went into town and see if the post office had them. Great lady!
