Looper Biker Gang and Early Birthday Party For You Know Who
Thursday, July 13
Today is Bob and Bonnie’s last full day to be with us. In the morning, we borrowed two bikes from the marina, and the six of us biked up and down the Luchine Canal for a 16 mile bike ride. This is a canal for small boats and we stopped and watched a boat go through two locks.
Great ride, very flat and well marked. There is a speed limit on this bike path and some bikes went faster than that speed limit. No one honks or indicates that they are passing you so sometimes it is a bit scary when a bike comes flying around you from behind.
That afternoon, Bob and Bonnie went to a pub while Tom, Colletta, John and I visited the Atwater Market. This market has been around since 1933. The inside of the market is filled with the bakers and butchers, and the outside has all kinds of local vegetables and fruits beautifully displayed and for sale.
That evening, we went out to celebrate an early birthday for me. We weren’t sure where to go and had planned on going to a steakhouse, but as we were walking there a gentleman from Chez Eric came out and tried to pull us into his restaurant. We had reservations at the steakhouse and they put us in crappy seating and the menu didn’t look that good so we got up and went back to Chez Eric’s. It was a very beautiful restaurant and they had a nice happy birthday dessert.
