Leaving Wrightsville Beach Anchorage and Mile Hammick Bay

Sunday, June 12

We left Anchorage at around 8:20 AM. Little sailboat had slipped in the middle of the night and anchored too close to our anchor. We had to hailed him to wake him up ask him to move his boat. Came through Motts channel at low tide. Good water until the entrance of the channel and we bumped the bottom right at the opening, just in front of the first marina.

At the Wrightsville Beach Bridge you need to call ahead and tell them that you were coming.  They only open every hour.  The figure 8 Bridge is 25 foot high at low tide, so not a problem going through it without it opening.  At around mm 271.5 we came across a small short area that was Very narrow and a little shallow. It is marked by three reds and two green floating buoys.  Lots of nice, reasonably priced pretty well taken care of homes along this way.
G 65 has been knocked over. Not visible coming from the north.
Got to our destination at Mile Hammick Bay. The surrounding land is part of a military base so you cannot go to shore. This is a excellent Anchorage. Room for lots of boats if you just work your way around crabpots.  Very hot day so we jumped in the water for about a half an hour. This was our first time that we could get into the water and it was wonderful! Got a chance to use our warm shower on the back swim platform. It works and feels great.

Another trawler named Jazz came in and anchored right beside us. Tom invited them over for dinner and we had a nice pork tenderloin dinner with our new friends Tracy and Susie.  This is an Anchorage I would let definitely like to do again.
Some local guys with jet boots provided some entertainment.
