Independence Day

Monday, July 4 Independence Day
We had planned to go to Jamestown today, but the weather was hot and rainy. We also had planned on grilling out brats and hot dogs and watching the Yorktown fireworks from the back of our boat but we found out that all activities in Yorktown had been cancelled because of weather including the fireworks.  We had a perfect spot in the Wormley Creek Marina for viewing the fireworks display so we were a little disappointed.  We still grilled out with Greek’s Folly, and Inspyered and watched some fireworks that local people set off.

The boat with the red is InSpeyered (Al and Jane). They had left their boat in this marina while they traveled for doctor visits. Tom and Colletta had met them in the Dismal Swamp and were surprised to see them in this out of the way marina.

We enjoyed drinks on the docks by Inspeyered before dinner.

Dinner on our boat… Tom, Colletta, Jane and Al.

After dinner, Larry Ewan, from Reliant came over, toured our boat and gave us a 2015 copy of the Chesapeake Magazine Cruising guide.  I tried to pay him for it, but he just wanted us to have it.  Great guide book.  As we go on with our travels we are continually amazed at how wonderfully generous boating people are.  Larry will be down in Florida this winter, so I hope that we catch up with him again.
