Fairlee Creek to Rock Hall

Monday August 15

Left Fairlee Creek Anchorage at around 11:30 AM. Just before we pulled anchor a sailboat got stuck in the narrow channel going out a fairly Creek. Tom and John took Tom’s dinghy and went over to see if there was enough room for us to be able to go by him to leave the creek. It was an interesting trip getting out of the creek, we were going a little slower than we should have and as we made the 90 degree turn to the left the combination a higher throttle setting on the starboard engine and a swift current exiting the 50 wide outlet proceeded to instantly swing the boat around and we found ourselves headed for the shore.  John was trying to be cautious and not take a big turn at that 90° angle to come too close to the sailboat that was aground.  We came very close to the shore before he got the boat stopped and back under control. Another lesson learned – keep up a little more speed for maneuvering…

We cruised around 10 miles down to Rockhall Landing Marina. This is a nice little marina that is run by two brothers, Chris and Joe.  We went for a swim in their pool and then went out for dinner at Bay Wolf Restaurant.  Pam tried the softshell crabs.  Not a favorite of the crabs

After dinner we went to The Mainstay (Home of Musical Magic).

This is a small building that is a non-for profit organization that features local, regional, national, international, musical artists. It cost us $10 to see some great talent. Joe Holt was the piano player and he was outstanding.  Singer Beth MacDonald from New York was very very talented. This is a small hall with mixed matched chairs, A good sound system and a wonderful grand piano. We are so glad that Lolli from Fairlee Creek told us about this place.  That evening we had a very strong storm.  Tom and Collette lost a boat throw and an old cooler in the strong winds.

Tuesday August 16

Today we took the shuttle to go to a laundromat. We did laundry at the laundromat and went to the grocery store.  The afternoon we did chores around the boat and back to the pool.  It is so nice to have a pool to jump in after the long hot days.
