Pam’s Brother and Sister In Law Join Us
Tuesday, July 4
In the morning, Tom and John took the dinghy around the basin and checked out the lock and the fort. The pictures below show the inside of the last lock. You can see the doors at the bottom of the door that is used to allow water to enter or drain out of the lock.
Here is a closer view of the doors.
Tom jumped into the water this morning and checked for damage to his props. Fortunately, there were only a couple of dings and he could straighten them with a large crescent wrench.
We left the basin around 10 o’clock in cruised 30 miles to the little town of Saint Marc. Along our the way we see quite a few new things to us. We have never seen a sea plane being towed by a boat before.
We decided to go to a marina so we could pick up Pam’s brother Bob and his wife Bonnie who will be cruising with us for the next 10 days. They flew into Montreal and had to take an Uber to meet us in this little town. This marina, Marina de l’ Auberge Handfield, is considered to be like a mini resort.
It has a pool, hot tub, high-class restaurant, bar, and spa. After enjoying the pool and hot tub, John and Tom sat and drank some free beers with the owner while we prepared dinner.
It is going to be so much fun having Bob and Bonnie with us. When we bought the boat and told everyone about the loop, Bob told us that he wanted to be with us when we were in Canada. Through a lot of work and preparation he made this work out.
