CoinJock and Norfolk

Wednesday May 3-Sunday May 7

We left Dowry creek with Imagine that and Pharmlife.  Imagine That is much faster that us so he went ahead and reported back to us on the condition of the Albemarle Sound.  The weather seem really great so we decided to do the crossing that day.  We had wanted to stop at Alligator River Marina to say goodbye to Miss Wanda and wish her well in her retirement, but when you get this kind of smooth passage you take advantage of it.  We got to Coinjock Marina around 5:35.  We were one of the last boats to arrive that day.  There were over 35 boats along the dock.  That evening we ate at the Coinjock marina with Pharmlife, Imagine That, and One Ton Tomato.

John had the famous prime rib again.  He liked it better this time.  We left Coinjock marina and headed to Norfolk.  I love going through Norfolk with the aircraft carriers, the ships, the coast guard ships guarding things.

We got to Tidewater Marina in Portsmith around 3:15.   We had docktails out on the dock with a group of loopers and our delivery captain from One Ton Tomato.

The next day it rained so we just walked around Portsmith with SeaQuest and Let’s Go.  Since it was Cinco de Mayo day we stopped into the local Mexican restaurant and had tacos and margaritas.

The next day we took a ferry over to Norfolk and toured the USS Wisconsin. We had been to the museam the last time we were in Norfolk with Greek’s Folly, but we never toured the ship.  We got back to the boat and got ready for our Kentucky Derby party.  SeaQuest had their daughter, son-in-law and young granddaughter come and visit.  IMG_6597We decided to have Spaghetti, salad, garlic bread and dessert.  We put on our derby hats, put our money in the pot and 10 people crammed on our boat to watch the Derby race.  Non of John and my horses won and we lost money but we still had a great dinner and a great time with new friends.

Thank you Dana for helping me with the dinner and creating my hat! The next day was Sunday, so John and I rode our bikes to church, and went to the grocery store.
