Homer Smiths again
Monday, April 17 through Wednesday, April 19
We left Wrightsville Beach around 8:13 AM traveling 44 miles and arrived at Mile Hammock Bay, a very popular Anchorage, at around 2:30. As we passed Swans Point marina we realized that our friends Jan and Kent and their friends Johnny and Liz were staying at that marina just around 3 miles south of where we were staying. We took the dinghy down and cruised the 3 miles over to visit and have a cocktail with them. We had heard so much about their friends from Anchor Down and this was the first time that we get a chance to meet them. We also met Compass Rose at the same marina. As we were cruising back to our boat we saw that Mz Fullcharge was anchored at Mile Hammock too so we went over and visited with them for a while.
The next morning we left our anchorage at 8:15 and got to Beaufort, North Carolina to Homer Smith’s marina at Around 2:00.
Homer Smith’s! Our Beaufort, NC stopover
Mz Fullcharge got there ahead of us. It was very very windy it was hard to pull in to this marina. Later in the day the wind picked up even more and Follow That Dream and Anchor Down came in and they had to be put on the fuel dock because it was too windy to get into their slips. Around 5:30 everyone came over to our boat for docktails.
Large Commercial Fishing Boats Behind The Guys
Jan and Kent arrived at the marina. We left the next morning and they stayed for another day or two. Jan took the next few pictures before they left. The fishing boat scored a number of swordfish and they watched them off load the catch and get it all packed in ice.
That night we walked around 1 mile and went out for dinner at No Name restaurant with Jan and Kent and Liz and Johnny. We were a little surprised at the lack of help that Matt and his father Tony gave to the boats coming in to Homer’s. The last 2 times we were there before we were really impressed with the service and we sent over 9 boats to this marina. They are nice people, maybe things will improve but meanwhile I am not so sure that I will be sending people to them any more.
