Havre de Grace To Worton Creek

Thursday, August 11

Left Tidewater Marina at Havre de Grace at around 10:30 AM. Cruised down to Worton Creek.  While we were cruising I called one of the harbor hosts from MTOA, Loretta Melling.   She told me that she and her husband  had their boat in Worton Creek right by where we were going to anchor.  We dropped the anchor and dinghied over to her boat and she picked up us with her car and became our tour guide for the afternoon.   She took us to Lockbriar Farm for ice cream, Clark’s for seafood and a Chestertown for a tour of the town.  It was so nice of her to show us the area.

While we were anchored in Worton Creek a man came by with a little flat boat with a”V” notch with a motor on it.  We told him “nice boat”.  He said “I’ll be right back”.  He came back pulling this sail boat to an anchorage spot.   The V notch was for the bow of a boat. We think that they may have broke down and they didn’t want to pay for a marina so he helped move them.  Apparently, they move a lot of sail boats via this method.
